This device can extend the life of your open cask of ale by 2 days or more.

Simply push this peg into the shive / spile hole after you've finished venting the cask.
The peg will only allow the same volume of air to enter the cask as the volume of beer being taken out using a hand pulled beer engine (1 pint of beer out + 1 volumetric pint of air in). By this action, none of the vital condition can escape and no excess air can enter the cask.

It is the loss of condition and excess air that leads to the ale becoming unpalatable.
