Extend the premium quality life of your cask ale by up-to 3 times the length against when dispensing without this system.
When dispensing from a cask without a Cask Aspirator, as a pint of beer is pulled from the cask, then a pint of air is pulled in through the cask's breather opening (AKA Shive or Vent). The air around us contains oxygen, wild yeast and bacteria. It is when this drawn-in air comes in contact with the live beer in the cask that the premium quality of the beer starts to be quickly disrupted (see figure 1). This shortens the beers premium quality to around 3 days from that first dispense.
The Cask Aspirator (aka Cask Breather) is a special valve which is fed by a supply of CO2 from an existing keg beer gas set-up, or its own gas bottle set-up. The Aspirator then is coupled to the cask's shive or vent with an appropriate connection. Now as a pint of beer is dispensed from the cask, instead of air now entering the cask, a pint of clean CO2 is dispensed into the head space above the beer automatically by this demand. This clean CO2 gas is at atmospheric pressure (no positive pressure) so does not alter the taste or carbonation of the beer (see figure 2).
This protection of the live ingredients extends the beers premium quality life up to 3 times the length of time of a cask dispensed without this system. Simply put - The Cask Aspirator gives better beer for longer (see figure 3). In addition to the longer premium life, larger casks can be used/taken, safe if the knowledge that the beer will protected over this extended time = Reduced transportation and production costs.
